Ouster of BP Chairman Tony Hayward May Be Linked To Lockerbie Terrorist Release

The release of  convicted Lockerbie terrorist Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi’s last year on humanitarian grounds may be more invested.  The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is looking into the possible connection between the favorable BP contract with Libya’s Muammar al-Gaddafi to provide BP access to Libyan oil reserves in exchange for Mohmed al-Megrahi’s  release.  Since 2007 BP had been in negotiations with Libya and reportedly had been barred by the Libyan government from lucrative oil contracts enjoyed by other companies in the U.S.  A $900,000,000 contract was awarded last year to BP by the Libyan government shortly after release of Megrahi, a projected revenue to BP of  $20 billion, from drilling in Libya’s Gulf of Sidra.

Meanwhile the Libyan Lockerbie terrorist who was facing imminent death last year is alive in Libya and Scottish doctors now admit that their projection that he had 3 months to live from terminal prostate cancer was incorrect.  Since his release and return to Libya, Megrahi has enjoyed super stardom, living with his family and a group of medecs  in a villa in the suburbs of  Tripoli.  Meanwhile trade between the UK and Libya is flourishing.
