As of now 87 million gallons of oil have spilled into the Gulf of Mexico, and we are still counting. Reportedly that’s 40,000 barrels a day. Compare that with BP’s estimate of 1000 barrels. Independent scientists, accused of “fear mongering,” by members within the Obama Administration, have had their earlier estimates, that contradicted BP’s, vindicated, thus suggesting BP purposely low balled the amount of the oil being leaked by its’ well.
As Butasforme suggested in it’s earlier post, an implosion might be necessary in order to stop the oil spill. Today, Nathan Hodge , writing for the WSJ blog Washington Wire, reports that a U.S. Marine scientist has added his voice to this discussion.
