Yemen is a hotbed of terrorist activity and where are we releasing prisoners from Gitmo to? That’s right–Yemen. What was the destination of the plane with terrorist suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab on board? East Coast, West Coast? No, Detroit Michigan in the Midwest. Where is the new facility planned to be built to hold the dangerous prisoners from Guatanamo? East Coast, West Coast? No, Thomas Illinois in the Midwest.
Coincidence? I don’t think so. Had his plan succeeded, the suspected terrorist would have sent a devastating message that Al Qaeda can reach into the heartland of the United States, that no place is safe in the continental USA.
But As For Me…
The question posed by most Americans is even more emphatic with this recent experience as to why the Obama Administration is still planning to close the base at Guantanamo that has proven to be secure and out-of-reach from terrorist attack? Why increase the risk factor for an attack on our soil by relocating the detainees to the continental USA? The decision by the Obama Administration is a cursory politically correct gesture, wrongheaded, and downright dangerous and irresponsible.
