Politics Of Nobel Peace Prize Not So Noble

Well now we know  just how political the Nobel Prize Committee has become—there should not be any doubt with the election of Barack Obama to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Let’s put it in context, Gandhi never received the Nobel Prize, but Arafat did.

Cloaked in secrecy, the Nobel Prize Committee refuses to disclose other nominees until 2059, fifty years from now, when either most of us are dead or elderly including the nominees and the winners. The committee is compromised of former winners, one of whom is Jimmy Carter, who has been quick to view and label any opposition to Obama as racist. Incredibly, rumor has it that Obama’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize was made 12 days after his inauguration!

This should be a wake-up call to all America of what the world community conceives as the proper international role that the United States should play, that of weakness and bowing before potentates such as King Abdullah. Know your place, and the accolades will be forthcoming . George Washington and John Adams warned of foreign intervention into the governance of the United States. Somehow we have lost our identity, and, perhaps, our way, in the name of globalization. That confusion has resulted in the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to one that doesn’t have a body of work worthy of recognition toward the goal of peace, and is instead waging a war in Afghanistan.

But As For Me….

This writer recalls a Christian precept of worthiness from the Bible, the Book of James 2:14-26 where Christians are warned against such self-praise: “I cannot see your faith for lack of deeds.”
