Timing Is Everything!

The Health Care Reform packages being railroaded through Congress gives one pause especially given that we have just inched back from the precipice of a global economic implosion. Universal Health Care is a subject worthy of investigation, debate, and eventual implementation. However, its’ timing at this juncture is neither prudent, nor imperative. The rush for passage supposedly is based upon the lessons learned from the earlier attempt by the Clinton Administration to pass similar legislation. However, what the smart politicians in the Obama Administration fail to recognize is that although the Clinton Administration faced an economic recession, it did not face a worldwide collapse of financial systems. We still are not on firm footing, and we need to focus our energies to assure that an economic relapse will not recur in the last quarter of this year or in 2010.

The problems with Medicare and Social Security should be addressed first. Reform is needed in both these programs to insure their solvency. Unemployment is still growing, war wages on in Afghanistan, continued foreclosures are occurring, aid is being cut to college students, and despite tightening their belts, states are facing shortfalls and having to increase fees and taxes to the already strapped taxpayers. Taking on another pricey obligation is not only ill-advised, but inflationary and contrived.

But As For Me…

The debate raging on Health Care Reform is a diversion from our current problems and unnecessarily divisive at a time when this nation needs to pull together to get back on firm ground. We don’t need a President willing to playact as Superman!

What happened to your site? I preferred the old But As For Me. Where are the great blog posts, and why won’t any old links to pages on your site work? I am disappointed by the changes made to your site.

We had a server crash and we are in the process of getting the old pages uploaded, but it takes time since we have to do it one by one. Once we get the old posts back up, we will resume to normal. Thanks for writing. I hope you understand.
