Starting with the replacement of Michigan Rep. Donald Dingell with California Rep. Henry Waxman, Pelosi is consolidating her power, Soros’ green machine, and thrusting another stab at disabling the coal industry. By replacing Dingell, a staunch supporter of home state automakers, on the powerful Energy and Power panel, by a narrow bruising vote for Waxman, a supporter of tougher emissions standards, the coal industry and automakers are in for a rough time.
The timing for this move was particularly advantageous since it came during the time the automakers were coming hat-in-hand on their private jets to ask for a bailout. Although the Big 3 automakers obviously need professional public relations help since perception is everything and coming for financial assistance on private jets rather than using business first-class on regular carriers, and relying that their statements of need was enough to warrant aid are definite no-no’s, the removal of Dingell bears a word of caution of what is happening with our national government.
As reported by the AP, the Energy and Commerce panel is one of the most powerful committees in the House with its’ sweeping jurisdiction over energy, the environment, consumer protection, telecommunications and health care programs such as Medicaid and the popular State Children’s Health Insurance Program. The final removal of Dingell from this powerful panel has been on Pelosi’s and her backers agenda for some time. Pelosi has been trying to box in the more moderate Democrat Dingell since taking office by creating a panel concerned with reduction of greenhouse gases headed by Massachusetts Rep. Edward Markey. This recent power grab by Pelosi may backfire on an Obama Administration by alienating moderate democrats, representatives from coal producing states, and Republicans.
But As For Me...
This site is the first source that has been concerned with the ties that George Soros, hedge fund manager extraordinaire, with the Democratic Party and President-Elect Obama. A shadow party and possibly shadow government is starting to evolve with the interest that global billionaires are playing in the governing not only of third world, emerging nations, but on the larger stage now involving the United States. Soros is heavily invested in alternative energy sources, except for coal gasification and nuclear, and because of his wealth and buying of influence enjoys the ability to hobnob with the powerful, as he states: “…I have one president for breakfast, and another for dinner.” It appears that Pelosi is taking her cues from him and laying waste to Dingell and Detroit is just the beginning.
