It is expected that sometime this week former Secretary of State Colin Powell will endorse Senator Barack Obama for President. This will be a direct hit to the Bush Administration, and an indirect hit to the Republican Party and Senator McCain. Colin Powell has been considered at various times as a possible GOP candidate for Vice President, and an endorsement by Secretary Powell signifies the first top ranking deserter from the U.S.S. Grand Old Pain. Well, it’s a fair exchange since McCain has former Democratic Vice President candidate Joe Lieberman in his corner. Turnabout is fair play, after all.
A Colin Powell endorsement goes beyond race, it is an endorsement that should allay the fears of Obama as Commander-In-Chief since Collin Powell did not only hold a cabinet position in the Bush Administration, but was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the Persian Gulf War and National Security Advisor in the Reagan White House.
Additionally, an Obama endorsement by Powell will attract moderate and disconnected Republicans. When prominent and distinguished Republicans such as Colin Powell jump ship, this is a real indication in this tight race that the Republicans are in trouble, and that their message is not on track.
But As For Me…
In this election process, the Republicans and most notably, the Republican Pit Bull, Governor Sarah Palin, have tried again and again to portray Barack Obama as less than patriotic. An endorsement by a top-ranking American military hero such as Colin Powell will surely stop unfounded attacks on Senator Obama’s loyalty and will stop unfounded epithets in mid-sentence. It ends one less negative and irresponsible attack, and that’s a good thing!

Good Post…
Considering the attacks on Obama were unfounded to begin with, I doubt they’ll suddenly stop.
In fact, conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh and George Will have decided that Powell’s endorsement was “racist”.
Unfortunately so many people refuse to let the truth- facts- get in the way of their b.s.
